It was a very enjoyable read. Raven (a werewolf) had a bad childhood, and then she was sold to a scientist. He kept her in a cage. After three years of abuse and rape, he dumped her in the mountains at winter time. Raven joins a real wolf pack and lives the next three years with them. Simon is sent to evaluate if he should kill her or bring her in for rehabilitation. Then things get sticky. The book plenty of love, action, intrigue and politics.

Wild Wolf Pack Karen Whiddon 9780373618149 Books Reviews

Right off the bat this book attracted me with just the cover. The use of color and graphics drew my attention. Of course to book publishers that is one of the most important steps to the sale of a successful novel. Many times a bad looking or boring cover can mean that even the best of books stay on the book store shelves.

The story drew me in even farther. I loved the no nonsense heroine in the book. Raven has lived in the human world for most of her life and didn't care for it. She was born as a shapeshifter, but had no idea what or why she was. She believes that she is a freak of nature and the only one of her kind. Her parents died in an automobile accident and Raven is raised by a foster family. Later she finds herself in the hands of evil professors where she is kept caged and the subject vile and unspeakable acts.

When she is set free from him, Raven moves into the mountains and takes up with a pack of wild wolves. She's happy in her life, until one day she sees another who can shift to a wolf like she can. When she meets Simon she has a million questions. The only problem is, just like Raven has found before, the world is not a safe place for her kind and those like her want her dead. Even as she begins to fall in love with Simon, she isn't sure she can trust him to keep her safe.

The characters in this book are believable despite the fact that they grow fangs and get all hairy. The love story is well written and the action keeps the readers attention. I'm sorry I missed the other books in the series and am investigating finding them online to add to my collection.
Protector Simon Caldwell is sent to hunt down a particularly dangerous shifter. When he catches up to her, he is taken aback as Raven is civilized though she lives in the forest with a pack of straight wolves.

Simon tries to persuade Raven she belongs with people and not wolves. If she rejects his contention, he will have to kill her to insure she never turns rabid. Raven refuses to leave the pack who has taken her in. One of the wolves attack attacks Simon hurting him and leading to his failure to make contact with his superior as required. Now a comrade in arms is coming to kill Raven and rescue Simon, if he is alive. Simon realizes what is going on though he does not understand his attraction to the wilderness lady; he also knows he must keep her safe.

The key to the super romantic fantasy is that the two shifters seem genuine, which in turn makes Karen Whiddon's world feel real. Simon as a Protector keeping his species safe knows what he must do, but his heart tells him otherwise; Raven has deserted humanity and its genus' cousin to live with wild wolves because the feral accept her as one of them without conditions. Fans will enjoy this fine tale as the hunter must kill the hunted, but love makes him realize when he does, he kills himself too.

Book was 5 star material. Keep up the great work. Thank You, Lin
Just couldn't keep my interest. Was slow to explain what was really going on with charectars and a little hard to understand who everyone was.
Great book! All of "The Pack" books are page turning, never wanted to put it down. Wish there where more to read.
